As per WHO Endometriosis is a disease where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus, causing pain and/or infertility. In general language a painful condition occurs due to abnormal growth outside the uterus. Endometriosis remains undiagnosed due to the similar symptoms like period pains and it is identified only when the female tries to have a baby and fails. The cyclical hormonal changes of menstruation is the responsibility of this tissue. So even on the outside of the uterus they continue to bleed on a monthly basis which causes pain and swelling in genital organs. Speaking of natural causes as per ayurveda the Endometriosis is due to the imbalance or disturbance caused in vata. The downward elimination of urine, faces, flatus, childbirth and menstrual blood is caused due to the Apana vata which is a subtype of Vata dosha. The accumulation or movement of endometrial tissue to settle in the extra uterine surfaces like the fallopian tubes and pelvic cavity is caused due to the apana vata obstruction In ayurvedic literature, charak samhita mentions 20 type of vaginal disorders but no descriptive theory is available for endometrial related problem, but yoni kanda according to Madhav Nidanam, bears similar features like endometriosis which causes female infertility.
Vata aggravation leads to Endometriosis and the cause of this are both physical and mental factors. And the major responsible factor for the Apana Vata Vikara is mental stress. Families don’t give greater importance to mental health and avoid talking about this as they think it is just a waste of time. Other reasons for the aggravation of Vata in the body is due to the delayed conceptions (delayed marriage), consuming too much cold, dry, rough, pungent, astringent and bitter substances, excess consumption of raw foods, excessive traveling, substance abuse, excess physical activity, etc. Hence we could say that the Tridosha imbalance is somewhere the major cause of Endometriosis. Kapha problem, Pitta problem, which is caused due to inflammation is mentioned by Ayurveda as the reasons behind the development of Endometriosis. Some more possible causes are: Some more possible causes are: Genetic Factors: Women might receive the endometriosis issue due to the hereditary connection. Which is termed as genetic factors. Immunity: You know the lectures you hate the most about the quality of food you need to consume are the best lessons you need to learn and many time due to a weak immune system the shedding growth of endometrial tissue outside the uterus fails. Estrogen Hormone: It is one of the main causes of endometriosis in women. Surgery: Surgeries such as C section, endometrial tissue may also be the cause of endometriosis.
The symptoms of endometriosis are different in different females in some cases it is very much visible while in other cases it might be quite hidden. Although the most commonly seen symptom is the pelvic pain. And certain other factors are:
Tiny little wounds which are small in size get implanted on the organs or the tissue lining your pelvis or abdomen.
When the implants increase as compared to the minimal stage it is the mild stage. These are deeper in tissue.
The ones which are deep in the implantation and along with formation of cysts on one or both ovaries, and thick bands of scar tissue called adhesions.
The condition in which the implants are higher and deeper along with formation of large cysts.
Some of the most common allopathic treatments of this is use of birth control pills, pain-medication, hormonal birth-control methods and other related medications. But ayurveda prefers natural treatment and thus avoids the Laparoscopic Treatment of endometriosis. The ayurvedic treatment is planned keeping in mind the basic aspects which needs to be achieved and these includes:
Virechana This is done to detoxify the body with the help of herbs which helps in eliminating the toxins.
Basti When an intrauterine installation of sterile medicated oil or ghee is performed on one's body this is termed as uttarbasti and it helps in removing the Endometriosis from its root.
Abhyanga To stimulate blood and lymph circulation a specialized oil massage is done on the patient which makes the body function smoothly.
Swedana When a steam bath is done with the help of herbs it is termed as Swedana. In this procedure the head and heart are kept cool while the body is cleansed by the warmth of the medicinal vapor.
Udvartana To release the toxins present in the lymphatic system the therapy used is Udvartana. For this procedure a deep penetrating paste is made from herbs and applied to the body to release toxins from the lymphatic system.
Pizhichil With the help of a warm herbal oil which is slowly dripped on the body the patient is given a thorough massage. The method applied here is defined for the massage and hence it's done in a synchronized manner and it helps to deeply cleanse the body tissues. Basti in ayurveda helps in relieving the pain caused during the regular life of patients dealing with endometriosis.
* Milk products need to be avoided like milk, buttermilk, casein, curds, yogurt, mayonnaise, khoa, milk drinks, lassi, ice creams, desserts, butter, cheese, etc. * You might love them but you need to avoid all the deep-fried items. * Frozen food could lead to an imbalance of dosha hence it needs to be avoided. * No carbonated drinks, readymade juices, Alcohol, Wines, Beer, etc. could be consumed. * Fats and high-fat cooking options have to be avoided like the intake of things which are prepared by frying in oil and ghee. Significant results are seen on treating endometriosis with the help of ayurveda. And to help someone deal with the effects caused by the endometriosis condition the disease must be cured from the root cause which is the balancing of doshas and its well defined in ayurveda.
